Understand the Exam Pattern

You must have a deeper understanding of the exam pattern before you start with the preparation. The current SBI PO Mains pattern of the examination is as follows –

  1. Reasoning & Computer Aptitude – 45 questions; maximum marks 60 of 60 minutes duration
  2. Data Analysis & Interpretation – 35questions; maximum marks 60 of 45 minutes duration
  3. Economy/ Banking Awareness – 40questions; maximum marks 40 of 35 minutes duration
  4. English Language – 35questions; maximum marks 40 of 40 minutes duration

There will be an additional compulsory descriptive paper of 50 marks and 30 minutes duration other than the above sections. There will be 155 questions from all four sections with a maximum of 200 marks. The total duration allowed is 3 hours. There will be a penalty of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer. Also, there will be no sectional cut-off.

Focus on the Syllabus

In most of the cases, candidates start their preparation for Mains even before attempting for the Prelims. It is because it takes more time to cover the syllabus of the Mains exam. 

There is an additional section in the Mains, other than the Prelims– General and Banking Awareness that will test your knowledge on the current events. So, the key here is to be up to date with the current events. Cover all the aspects of the syllabus for thorough preparation.
